Scrapbooking is a well-liked hobby nowadays for many reasons. It preserves and displays every significant moment in your family’s life. All the materials you need can be purchased at arts and craft stores, or even at school and office supplies stores. You will need paper cutters, scissors, craft knife, adhesive, ruler and the likes.
You can also purchase ready-made embellishments in the form of cut-outs, stickers, stamps and others. Those using advanced techniques use things like stencils and die-cutters. But you can always come up with your own from scratch, using materials of your choice. And the hobby need not be expensive.
It’s best to carefully choose the photos you’ll include in your project. As much as possible, go for really special ones, those that are deemed as priceless moments. For example, you can include a photo of your son attempting his very first steps. Or a birthday photo of your husband finally getting the digital sport watch of his dream as a gift.
Scrapbook pages need not contain only photographs. You may include local newspaper clipping of an article where a family member has been mentioned. Or a postcard bought during your first trip to a distant island paradise. Even your son’s hair from his very first haircut may be included on the pages. Just remember to go for flat items so as not to end up with a bulging finish product.
Each page can be enhanced by using embellishments, to further capture the mood of memories you wish to preserve. For instance, a page is about your daughter’s fairytale themed birthday party. First, you can spread photos of her donning her pretty costume. Then you may add glittery cut-outs of stars, stickers featuring popular fairytale characters, and many other trimmings.
Scrapbooking is recommended for those who like to preserve memories and at the same time put their creativity to use. When friends come over for dinner, you can entertain them with family photos. Plus, your crafts will make for interesting conversation pieces.
